LATVIA Virsliga
The Latvian Higher League, also known as the Virsliga, is the top professional soccer league in Latvia. It was founded in 1991. The league is run by the Latvian Football Federation (Latvijas Futbola federacija).
• The Latvian Higher League season typically runs from March to November.
• The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion. The bottom two teams are relegated to the second-tier Latvian First League, while the team that finishes in seventh place enters a playoff with the team that finishes second in the Latvian First League to determine which team will play in the Latvian Higher League the following season.

• The Latvian Higher League also has a team in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League, which are continental competitions for the top club teams in Europe.
