LaLiga, also known as the Primera División, is the top professional football league in Spain. It is organized by the Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP) and features 20 teams who play each other twice in a home-and-away format, for a total of 38 matches per season.
LaLiga, one of the most popular and successful football leagues in the world, was founded in 1929. Nine teams have been crowned champions. The most successful clubs is Real Madrid, who have won the title 35 times. Some of the most successful clubs include Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Valencia, who have won multiple titles.
The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion and qualifies for the UEFA Champions League. The second and third-placed teams qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
The bottom three teams are relegated to the second division, the Segunda División, while the top two teams from the Segunda División are promoted to LaLiga.
LaLiga is known for its passionate fans and intense rivalries, particularly the El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
