The Scottish Premiership, also known as the Ladbrokes Premiership, is the top professional football league in Scotland. It is organized by the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) and features 12 teams who play each other three times in a home-and-away format, for a total of 33 matches per season.
The Scottish Premiership was founded in 2013, following the merger of the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League.
The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion and qualifies for the UEFA Champions League. The second-placed team qualifies for the UEFA Europa League.The bottom team is relegated to the second division, the Scottish Championship, while the top team from the Scottish Championship is promoted to the Scottish Premiership.
The most successful clubs in the Scottish Premiership are Celtic Galgow, Glasgow Rangers, and Aberdeen.
The Scottish Premiership is known for its passionate fans and intense rivalries, particularly the Old Firm between Celtic and Rangers.
