AUSTRIA Bundesliga
The Bundesliga is the top professional soccer league in Austria. It was founded in 1911 and is currently composed of 12 teams. The league is run by the Austrian Football Association (Österreichischer Fußball-Bund).
The Bundesliga season typically runs from July to May. The league uses a points system, with three points awarded for a win, one point for a draw, and zero points for a loss. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion. The bottom two teams are relegated to the second-tier 2. Liga, while the team that finishes in 11th place enters a playoff with the team that finishes second in the 2. Liga to determine which team will play in the Bundesliga the following season. The top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the playoffs, which culminate in the championship playoff to determine the champion.
The most successful team in Bundesliga history is Austria Wien, with a record 33 championships. Some of the most popular teams in the Bundesliga include Rapid Wien and Red Bull Salzburg.
The Bundesliga also has a team in the UEFA Champions League.
