CZECH REPUBLIC 1.Liga
The 1. Liga is the top professional soccer league in the Czech Republic. It was founded in 1993 and is currently composed of 16 teams. The league is run by the Football Association of the Czech Republic (Českomoravský fotbalový svaz).
The 1. Liga season typically runs from July to May.
The most successful team is Sparta Prague. Some of the most popular teams include Sparta Prague, Slavia Prague, Viktoria Plzeň, Slovan Liberec, FK Jablonec and Baník Ostrava.
The champion participates in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League.
The team finishing in 16th position is relegated directly to the Czech National Football League, while teams in 15th and 14th places play relegation play-offs against teams finishing 2nd and 3rd in the Czech National Football League.
