BELGIUM Pro League
The Belgium Pro League, also known as Jupiler Pro League or Belgian First Division A, is the top professional football league in Belgium. It is organized by the Belgian Football Association (KBVB/URBSFA) and features 18 teams who play each other twice in a home-and-away format, for a total of 34 matches per season.
The Pro League was founded in 1895 and is one of the oldest football leagues in Europe. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion and qualifies for the UEFA Champions League. The second and third-placed teams qualify for the UEFA Europa League.The bottom team is relegated to the second division, the Belgian First Division B, while the top team from the Belgian First Division B is promoted to the Jupiler Pro League.
Some of the most successful clubs in the Pro League include Club Brugge, Anderlecht, and Standard Liège, who have won multiple titles.
The Belgium Pro League is known for its passionate fans and intense rivalries, particularly the Derby van Vlaanderen between Club Brugge and Cercle Brugge.
The Pro League has produced many talented players, including Jan Ceulemans, Eric Gerets, Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Marc Wilmots, Michel Preud’homme, Paul Van Himst, Jean-Marie Pfaff, Vincent Kompany, Daniel Van Buyten, Enzo Scifo who have gone on to successful careers at top clubs around the world.
